History
Sexual Overtones was spawned in the summer of 2008 when P.D., who had worked with groups like the Halifax Burlesque Society and Pink Velvet Burlesque, moved west to Ottawa.
Since then, we’ve had one performance and grown several committees made up of dedicated and sexy volunteers.
Mission
Sexual Overtones (SO) aims to provide quality entertainment that is body-, female- and sex-positive, playful and all inclusive. SO provides support to local non-profit organizations. Being involved (as a performer or an audience member) in SO is a fun way of expanding acceptance and love of human sexuality in its splendid variety while creating a safe, fulfilling, and esteem-boosting environment for breakthrough performance art.

The Puff Sisters The Puff sisters, Cream and Powder, are what you could justifiably call hot and bothered. There is no boundary, no bridge they won’t cross to elicit the sounds of human laughter - even at their own expense. If laughter is the best medicine, then these two are certified phDeranged! Powder is sexy but goofy and Cream is flirty and dirty. A wholly unwholesome combo? KA-POW! |

The Muffin Tops: Ambrosia, Pound Cake, & Cherry Pie One dry evening in the mid 1950s in the Nevada desert, Betty Crocker was whipping up some delicious treats. Little did she realize that the desert evening masked an atomic bomb testing site a few miles from her home. As she put the finishing touches on her sweets, the radiation in her kitchen created a time travel phenomena that whisked the sweets away to the future, giving birth to the muffin tops, a trio of giggling girlies who like to shake what the bakery gave ‘em. |

Kinky and the Brain This sexy duo knows well that the brain is the largest sex organ and that laughing is a great aphrodisiac. Brain is turned-on by long walks through the library, complex mathematical equations, and words with more than twelve letters. Excedera
Excedera is an only child with many siblings. Their names are Mario, Louie, Candace, “Starr”, Raoul, Igor and Ginger. They are all occasionally spotted on or off stage, but rarely together. Between the 8 of them, they have been performing in Ottawa for over 5 years and have garnered many fans, lovers and even enemies. Be on the look out for each of them, they may look similar but one will stroke your ego, give you attitude or steal your girl, while the others might trip you or tease you. They may even talk trash about each other but they are tight…You have been officially warned. |

The Carnal Curiousities Ladies and Gentlemen, step right up and witness the unique blend of carnival tradition and Victorian sensibilities known as The Carnal Curiousities! Miss E, Mistress Mayhem, Poindextra, and the Count of Cockleberry combine magic, juggling, slapstick, and a generous dash of nudity to bring a smile to the face and a tent to the pants. One thing is for certain - you’ll never know quite what to expect when The Carnal Curiousities take the stage! |

Geoffo Marx He is one of Ottawa’s most bestest stand up comics. He has played stages all over the country and hosts a bi-weekly radio show. You never know which of his characters will turn up to host a Sexual Overtones show….will it be Rev. Christian Cumming, a southern baptist preacher? Or Hershel Hotdog, a sass mouth vaudeville fixture….who knows who will turn up to host. The only way to find out is to drag yo sexy ass down to a show! |

Aristotle O’Nasty A burlesquing, gangster rapping scholar - this doctor of philosophy is renowned for his PhD, which he shakes on stage for all to see. A single dose of O’Nasty helps alleviate wackness. Warning: The shine from his bling has been known to cause temporary blindness. The effects of his dancing prowess may impair the ability to drive or operate machinery. Use care until you become familiar with his effects. Contact a physician if arousal lasts more than four hours. |

Ludius Mike is no stranger to being on stage, though usually his costumes stay on better than that. Descended form a long line of dramatic spirits, evidence of his dramatic endeavours are carefully chronicled in the hieroglyphics of the pyramids, in which his chiselled countenance has been spotted, if not recognized. As his soul has recycled through the eons, like the Dalai Lama, but more flamboyant, he would like to point out that millenia of royalties are still outstanding, and he thinks it’s about time someone settles up. Until then, he will continue to light up the stage for your entertainment. |

The Dirty 30s Newbies to the stage, the Dirty 30s will give you something to keep you warm at night during the recession. Jag is a good girl turned, well, much better.
